چکیده

This study focused on water quality for Guanting Reservoir, the possible auxiliary drinking water source of Beijing. Through remote sensing (RS) approach, water quality retrieval models were established and analyzed for eight common concerned water quality variables, including algae content, turbidity, and concentrations of chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, and dissolved phosphorus, by using Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) data. The results showed that there existed a statistical significant correlation between each water quality variable and remote sensing data in the slightly-polluted inland water body with fairly weak spectral radiation. With appropriate method of sampling pixel digital numbers and multiple regression algorithms, algae content, turbidity, and nitrate nitrogen concentration could be retrieved within 10% mean relative error, concentrations of total nitrogen and dissolved phosphorus within 20%, concentrations of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus within 30% while chemical oxygen demand had no effective retrieval method. These accuracies were acceptable for the practical applications of routine monitoring and early warning on water quality safety with some support of precise traditional monitoring. The results showed that it was possible and effective to perform most traditional routine monitoring tasks of water quality on relatively clean inland water bodies by RS.

Comparative analysis of remote sensing water indexes for wetland water body monitoring using Landsat images and the Google Earth Engine Platform0 (A Case study: Meighan Wetland, Iran)

Wetlands are dynamic and complex aquatic ecosystems that play an important role in the survival of many plant and animal species. This study modeled the spatio-temporal changes of the Arak Meighan wetland during 1985–2020 using the multi-temporal Landsat images. In doing so, the applicability of different satellite-derived indexes including NDVI, NDWI, MNDWI, AWEIsh , AWEInsh , and WRI was inve...

Application of Artificial Neural Network Technology in Water Color Remote Sensing Inversion of Inland Water Body Using Tm Data

For water color remote sensing study of inland water body, terrestrial satellite is often a good data source, because it has high spatial resolution. However, the precision of water color remote sensing inversion limits its application to water environmental monitoring and pollution analysis. This paper firstly studied traditional regression arithmetic and found that it was difficult to extract...

Analysis of MERIS Reflectance Algorithms for Estimating Chlorophyll-a Concentration in a Brazilian Reservoir

Chlorophyll-a (chl-a) is a central water quality parameter that has been estimated through remote sensing bio-optical models. This work evaluated the performance of three well established reflectance based bio-optical algorithms to retrieve chl-a from in situ hyperspectral remote sensing reflectance datasets collected during three field campaigns in the Funil reservoir (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)....

Effects of the land use change on ecosystem service value

The impacts of land utilization change on the ecosystem service values in Daqing during 1995 to 2015 were analyzed based on unit area ecosystem service value of Chinese territorial ecosystem from Mr. Xie Gaodi and ecosystem service value calculation formula from Costanza. Results showed that the ecosystem service value of Daqing decreased from US $4343.1559m in 1995 to US $3824.327m in 2015, wi...

Remote estimation of chlorophyll concentration in productive waters: Principals, algorithm development and validation

Most of the information pertaining to remote sensing of phytoplankton was developed for oligotrophic waters, where detritus and inorganic particles are scarce or their concentrations correlate with phytoplankton density. In our study we concentrated on inland and productive coastal waters, with the initial work done in Lake Kinneret, Israel. The primary objectives were: (1) to study the spectra...
